Morning Sickness

Morning sickness normally starts around about Week 6 on pregnancy and can carry on until Week 15 however this can vary throughout the pregnancy period.

The cause of morning sickness is the body´s change in hormones and the body´s response to the pregnancy hormone which is very high in the first part of the pregnancy.

Honey, Ginger and lime juice are well known as one of the most natural forms in helping Morning Sickness.

Ginger –Is great for soothing the stomach. A little ginger, honey and fresh lime juice in warm water is the best.

Mint- Chewing on fresh mint or adding it it tea or water can help ooze out the nausea. morning sickness 2

Toast, Crackers or Dry Bread – may help with calming the upset stomach.

Acid Reflux Tablets- To much vomiting can be harmful to your insides i.e. the esophagus and the throat, which in turn leads to heartburn and a sour stomach. Acid Reflux tablets can lower the acidity of the stomach, reduce the damage caused when you do vomit, and helping to prevent that sour stomach in the first place.

Vitamin B6-  Taking Vit B6 can help some people reduce the symptoms.

Exercise- A gentle 30 minute walk can proove to be great for the body and mind. It can help release endorphins which in turn will make you feel a lot better inside and outside.

Medications- Benadryl and Unisom are more commonly used to treat allergies or insomnia, but they known to also help with nausea, especially if your morning sickness starts as soon as  you wake up in the morning.
